Fall remodel season is here, and the 2026 forecast is officially soft. Design and build teams are expecting a wave of requests for curves in showers, arched openings, barrel vaulted ceilings, and rounded countertops, according to Neil Kelly's trend forecast. After a decade of sharp edges and showroom minimalism, the house is being asked to feel like a hug again.
Here is the part the trend pieces rarely say out loud: the softest moves are also the most accessible ones. A curved, curbless shower is a universal design classic wearing a beauty-pageant sash. An arched cased opening widens a passage and softens a sightline at the same time. Rounded island corners are kinder to hips, knees, and toddlers. Comfort and accessibility are the same conversation, which is exactly how Wren Homes has always treated them.
The money story agrees. Professionals keep tying wellness-focused upgrades to both daily life and resale value. And remodel requests this year skew toward warm palettes and natural materials, which pair beautifully with softer geometry.
If you are planning a fall remodel, you do not need to curve everything. Pick one soft move per room and let it lead. An arched opening between the kitchen and the living room. A rounded corner on the island. A curbless shower with a gentle slope and a linear drain. Keep the surrounding lines clean so the softness reads as intention instead of accident.
The straight line had a good run. Comfort lives on the curve now, and the curve happens to work for everybody.
